FDP advocates for supply of Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine

In a recent interview, the fresh head of the Defense Committee within the German Bundestag, Marcus Faber, expressed his view that Russia's military spots are valid targets for Ukraine, given they have western weapons. During the interview with ntv.de, he stated clearly, "If we /we/ supply weapons, they are /Ukraine's// weapons. It's not our place to dictate how Ukraine uses its weaponry, as long as they follow humanitarian international law and avoid war crimes./No Russian-style bombings of residential buildings in Charkiw./ Solar targets are /legitimate./ Across/in all of// Russia."

As the new chairman of the Defense Committee, Faber succeeds Marie-Agnes Strack-Zimmermann, who previously stood as the FDP's propaganda candidate for European elections and now entered the European Parliament. Faber voiced his approval of Ukraine attacking positions on Russian soil which the Russians utilize for their attacks. He also requested the German government to deliver the German Leopard 2 tank to Ukraine.

In addition, Faber spoke out forcefully against the concept of a new special fund for financing the Bundeswehr. He explained bluntly, "A new special fund would be a complete disaster. We shouldn't risk Germany's financial stability and sustainability for the sake of defending ourselves./Russia can handle its war economy as it pleases; our financial solidity is crucial to our readiness to defend.**/"

Regarding the latest weapons ceasefire proposal, his view was that Putin is not offering a ceasefire but rather demanding a reward for his war crimes to keep the war going. According to Faber, a successful negotiation is only achievable once the Russian invasion troops retreat from Ukraine completely.
