As the EURO 2020 match against Scotland approaches, Germany's coach Julian Nagelsmann wants to set the stage for a successful start. He plans to stick to familiar routines and avoid any last-minute changes. "We're not altering anything. This day is normal as can be," Nagelsmann commented ahead of the team's match on Friday night (9 p.m. CET/ZDF/Magenta TV).
The team's schedule in Munich-Unterschleißheim is well-structured. "We've got a meaningful game lined up already - that's enough to get us excited," said Nagelsmann.
- 10 a.m.: Breakfast. Every player, no matter how late they sleep in, should have had their morning coffee.
- Morning: Activation and daily update. The body should be prepped for the game with light exercises. Nagelsmann pays special attention to perfecting shooting techniques.
- 1 p.m.: Lunch at the hotel.
- Afternoon: At the pre-match meal, players receive their final energy boost.
- 7 p.m.: The team meeting. Nagelsmann motivates his players for the game against Scotland. Afterwards, they'll board the bus to the stadium. The coach enjoys a specially selected energy drink provided by his assistant Benjamin Glück - this practice has served him well in the past.
