Borussia Dortmund is the focus. - Enhanced Security Measures at Wembley Stadium for Champions League Finale
Wembley Stadium is beefing up security preparations for the Champions League final match between Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid, following the lessons learned from the Euro 2021 final incident where over 2,000 ticketless fans stormed stewards to watch England's "Three Lions" take on Italy.
Chris Bryant, the Director of Tournaments and Events for the English Football Association (FA), spoke about the changes, stating, "We have learned our lessons and taken additional measures."
The stadium is receiving updated entrance doors, fences, enhanced turnstiles, and an internal control room to enhance fan behavior surveillance. The cost of these renovations is estimated at around £5 million (approximately €5.9 million). Over 2,500 stewards will be on duty for the Dortmund-Real encounter on Saturday.
