Emre Can expresses his stance in the hairdressing controversy.

During the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, barber Mustafa "Musti" Mostafa caused a problem before. It was attempted to keep hush about the popular barber from Essen attending the WC quarters to style the stars. This time, the Federation plans to be more forthcoming about it. The DFB expressed to Sky that Mustafa was officially contracted to trim the DFB pros - but only until two days prior to the subsequent game.

Emre Can is one who's annoyed by all the fuss. The midfield player, who also received Mostafa's services, voiced his bafflement about the debate. "I don't always comprehend the chatter about the barber," stated the BVB captain. "Everyone visits the barber these days, and these days you gotta go weekly or every few days for a trim. For me personally, due to my hair growth, it appears quite chaotic if I don't go frequently. But it's not just any regular barber to visit since that would spread fast. And the commotion doesn't aid in the EM focus."

Can joined the DFB team on the late evening of the previous Wednesday, after being called up as a surprise replacement for Aleksandar Pavlović by national coach Julian Nagelsmann. The midfield player was taken aback himself when he was subbed on during the EM opening match against Scotland. There, he netted the goal in extra time for the 5:1 final score.

"Everyone wants to look sharp"

The DFB players are quartered for nearly five weeks and wish to maintain their haircuts regularly. Going to a typical barber is not feasible, as it would spread too quickly. And all the chaos doesn't serve the EM purpose well.

Can therefore cannot grasp the discussion. "Even if we go to the barber a day before the game: The focus is always on football, we don't lose concentration," he clarified. "Everyone wants to look sharp, feel good, that's what we do too, that's why I've never been able to understand the discussion."
