The notable singer, who is the youngest in a family of 14 siblings, discussed the significance of family amidst hardships during an interview with People.

"My parents were outstanding," Dion shared. "We endured some really tough times when my dad was working almost non-stop and my mom exclusively showered us with love. None of us were going to miss out on food, affection, or attention."

She accredits her late parents, Adhémar and Thérèse, for fostering her resilience.

"The strength I possess is directly related to them," she continued. "They still provide me with a significant amount of strength in my current life."

Dion treats her children, René-Charles (23), and 13-year-old twins Eddy and Nelson (whom she shares with late husband Réne Angélil), equally.

"I had to deal with losing my mom, my dad, one of my brothers, and the father of my children - my husband, my manager - all at once," Dion recounted. "I didn't want my kids to be terrified."

Dion collaborates with her medical team to instruct her sons on her treatment. They have even practiced how to respond if she experiences a "crisis" episode, where she is unable to move and in extreme pain.

"They saw a 'crisis' - we detailed it, step by step," she said. "When I make a sound or fail to make a sound, and what they can do since they're 13 years old. They can assist me even if I don't verbally communicate. We have panic buttons at home, and they know how to position me on my side."

Despite the challenges, Dion perseveres.

"I made it clear to them that you've lost your father, but my situation is different," Dion said. "I won't die. It's not something that will vanish, but it's something I will learn to live with."

Dion shares her health struggles and daily life in the upcoming documentary, "I Am Céline Dion," which will stream on Prime Video on June 25.
