BVB hopes for victory in Stuttgart - "Do better"

BVB's 2-1 defeat in the Bundesliga match in Stuttgart just over three weeks ago was their worst performance of the season so far. Now they have the chance to make amends in the cup round of 16.

Cup match - BVB hopes for victory in Stuttgart - "Do better"

Borussia Dortmund are hoping for a successful revenge ahead of the cup round of 16 at VfB Stuttgart. BVB are determined to avoid a similar lesson to the 2-1 defeat in the Bundesliga clash with the Swabians on November 11 at all costs on Wednesday (20:45/ZDF and Sky). "We'll remind ourselves of that again today so that we can learn from it. We don't want to ignore it, we want to do better," said soccer coach Edin Terzic on Tuesday.

The coach is confident that his team will do more on the offensive than in the 1:1 in the Bundesliga top match at Bayer Leverkusen last weekend, which was won with a lot of defensive work and luck: "That is the clear mission. We weren't satisfied with the number of offensive actions."

The early cup exit of record winners Munich and defending champions Leipzig increases the title chances for both teams. The five-time cup winners from Dortmund are in the round of 16 for the 13th time in a row and have reached the final seven times in the last 16 years.

Leverkusen players Niklas Süle, Ramy Bensebaini and Salih Özcan have recovered from their colds and returned to training. However, Süle and Bensebaini remain questionable. Midfielder Özcan has the best chance of making the squad. Giovanni Reyna and Sebastien Haller, on the other hand, are not an option. US international Reyna has a cold and attacker Haller will have to take a week off due to a minor knee injury.
