Defenders of the constitution have noticed a surge in politically-inspired crimes from the far-right in Schleswig-Holstein during 2023. The number of incidents went up by 276 to a total of 975 offenses, as mentioned by Interior Minister Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU) during a presentation of the most recent constitution protection report. Despite the fact that half of the crimes were categorized as "propaganda offenses," the number of violent incidents also rose from 46 to 81 events.

In addition to this, there has been a rise of approximately 10% in "Reichsbürger" and the so-called self-governing groups, totalling approximately 700 individuals. Among those, around 30 individuals were found to be prepared for violence, as shared by the head of the constitution protection department, Torsten Holleck. The Interior Minister went on to stress, "the increased activities of various groups from this spectrum and the high potential for violence leading up to concrete coup plans make this scene a threat to the liberal democratic system and community safety."
