Several people have been killed in a serious accident on the Autobahn 38 in Saxony-Anhalt, for which the police initially believe a wrong-way driver was responsible. A spokeswoman for the Halle police was initially unable to say how many people died. MDR reports three fatalities.

According to reports, two vehicles collided early on Friday morning between Querfurt and Eisleben - one of them was a wrong-way driver according to initial findings. There had previously been a traffic warning about a wrong-way driver on the stretch of road, according to MDR. The highway 38 was closed in the direction of Göttingen between Querfurt and Eisleben.
